SCREW DOWN CONCHO DESIGN DETAILS We build these new conchos in 2 sizes, those being 1.5" and 1.75" for standard saddlery application. You will notice that our concho design has a small bar or loop from which you can attach a saddle string of the standard size which is 1/2" in width. The Concho design is made to accept a standard 82 degree countersink head screw of the size #10 by what ever length that you feel fits your application the best.. I myself prefer to use a pan head style screw, but you could use another style as long as the bottom side of the head has a standard 82 degree taper for thecountersink. One other point I would like to make, is that on the backside of each concho you will see a small post. It may need to be sharpened by you the customer before installing, just make a few strokes with a file to do the sharpening. This little post or PIERCING PIN as well call it, is designed to pierce the layer of leather below the screw as it is tightened in place and thus eliminating
the oncho spinning latter on. Besides all that technical jargon, we build these Screw Down Conchos in 3 distinct and tasteful styles. We call the Twined Circles, Star, and Cathedral. The Twined Circles ideas comes from our trip to Ireland and a look at the Book of Kells. The Star, well every cowboy worth his salt finds fond memories of those nights he has slept under them, and the brightness of the star that marked Christs birthplace. The Cathedral, as it is named, came from a window design we seen while traveling in France. We hope you enjoy them as much as we did when designing these new items.
